1936 Dollar Sign #6 Monopoly Game

Brown New Edition

Parker Brothers was not very clear as to the #6 Game designation. Collectors commonly refer to #6 Games as Blue Box Games. But, based on Parker Brothers game inserts, the #6 also covers "Black Bound" boards which I have designated as the Dollar Sign ($) #6 Edition. The $ is the most prominent feature on these Black Box/Board Games and gives a clearer distinction between the two #6 games. Also, in Parker Brothers inserts from 1938 onward, the #6 games were also referred to as Junior Editions. The 1946 Dollar Sign #6 game is the only game that actually had the #6 printed on the Board and Game Box.

The 1936 "New Edition" Dollar Sign #6 Editions have 2 specific versions: Version 1 is a brown box with corresponding Brown Board covered in brown linen. Version 2 is a Black Box with a Black Board. All the game components are identical. The metal tokens were made by the Dowst Manufacturing Company made these early die cast tokens with a Zinc alloy called Zamak. It is also referred to as Pot Metal or White Metal. The dark oxidation, which is very common with many of the early tokens(1935-1938), was a result of impurities in the manufacturing process. By the late 1930s these impurities were eliminated.

The Brown Box/Board set in Very Good Condition is Very Rare.
